Good evening and welcome to The British Deer Society

BDS working with police to target poaching in the South West

The South West Branch of the BDS is working closely with PC Beck, the Wildlife Crime Officer of Devon & Cornwall Police, in targeting wildlife crime focusing on the South Devon area. Please report any activities such as poaching, illegal shooting (out of season or at night and using dogs illegally to take game) to PC Beck via the SW BDS branch to target individuals who may be involved. 01626 367171 or martin@countrysportshop.co.uk

PC Beck has asked that any activities such as poaching, illegal shooting (out of season or at night and using dogs illegally to take game) be reported to him to enable a database of crimes to be collated. This will enable PC Beck to target individuals who may be involved. PC Beck was instrumental in putting a task force together tackling Wildlife Crime in North Devon and Somerset focusing on the poaching and overshooting of the Red Deer population on Exmoor and it is largely thanks to Martin’s efforts that poaching has been reduced in North Devon and deer numbers are beginning to stabilise.

Martin Lamb, Vice Chairman of the South West Branch is coordinating a meeting between interested parties that he is hoping will take place before the end of the year. A firm date is yet to be established but anyone wishing to attend can contact Martin Lamb on 01626 367171 during the day or via email at martin@countrysportshop.co.uk and he will be in touch to confirm dates and venue closer to the time.

Anyone who has any information, no matter how trivial they feel it may be can also use this email and South West Branch will ensure that PC Beck receives the important information.
