Deer Management - ABOUT THE COURSE
Are you looking to advance your deer management skills?
The BDS/Lantra Deer Management Course is seen as the industry flagship for advanced training in the deer sector. Subjects covered include census work, ageing deer, population dynamics, cull planning, impact assessment and park deer management to name but a few.
Course candidates range from serious recreational stalkers with a thirst for more knowledge to professionals in both the private sector, the Forestry Commission and non-government organisations such as the National Trust, Natural England and the Wildlife Trusts.
The certificated course also forms part of the Defence Deer Management training programme.
Training in deer management is delivered by senior Instructors with a huge depth of knowledge and combined experience totalling many decades. In addition to the Instructors expert tuition, every candidate brings their own experiences and unique situations adding further depth to this outstanding course.
Deer Management Course Details
The course is of 3 days duration and at the end of each course, candidates are required to sit a short answer question paper and produce a representative deer management report. On successful completion, students are awarded with a Lantra Award Certificate.
Our courses are taught to a high level by Lantra accredited instructors who have gained their practical and deer management skills through many years working in the industry.
Course Content includes:
Report Writing, Deer Management Principles & Tutorials, Census Techniques, Population Dynamics, Cull Planning, Cull selection, Deer and Forestry, Deer and Agriculture, Food Safety and Larders, Park Deer, Record Keeping
Prerequisites:
The course caters for students with varying degrees of experience and from diverse backgrounds. Students are normally required to have completed DSC1, the training department will advise potential students regarding entry qualification.
The cost of the three day training course is £425.00; this includes a comprehensive course handbook, tuition, and a Lantra award certificate
