Description

In 1957 the Mammal Society first published a Field Guide to British Deer, a handbook intended as an essential reference for anyone with an interest in deer.  Compiled and edited by FJ Taylor Page.   It was an immediate success at a time when the true status of deer within the UK was poorly understood.

This 4th edition, published to coincide with the BDS 60th Anniversary, reflects the pocket size and format of the original but has been thoroughly revised to bring it fully up to date.  It includes entirely new seasonal activity charts and distribution maps, and specially commissioned illustrations by talented artist,  Katie Hargreaves,  have been added to Michael Clark’s originals.  For the first time colour photographs have also been included to assist with identification, and the original paper fly leaf has been replaced with a tough laminated cover.
