Royal Mail Strikes

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has called on its members who collect, sort, and deliver parcels and letters to take strike action on the 26th and 31st of August and the 8th and 9th of September 2022.

As a result of this action the British Deer Society is expecting disruption to its postal service not only on the strike days themselves but also on subsequent days while the service resumes and deals with any backlogs.

When Will Postal Workers Be on Strike?

Royal Mail postal workers will be on strike on:

  • Friday 26th August 2022
  • Wednesday 31st August 2022
  • Thursday 8th September 2022
  • Friday 9th September 2022

On the strike days there will be no delivery of letters only Special Delivery Guaranteed and Tracked 24 parcels (please be aware these are not services used by BDS). Other items posted the day before, during strike action or on the days after the strike will be subject to delay.

In addition, there will be no collection from BDS on any of the strike days and the next collection dates following the strike days will be:

  • Tuesday 30th August
  • Thursday 1st September
  • Monday 12th September

What BDS Services Will Be Affected?

The following BDS services will be affected and are likely to experience longer delivery times.

  • Postal communications including membership letters and cards
  • The delivery of orders from the BDS shop
  • DSC1 Manuals and certificates
  • Any other postal requests

We ask our customers and members to be understanding and patient during periods of disruption as we will do our best to send postal items and communications to you as quickly as we can.
