Announcement: King Charles III Retains Patronage of The British Deer Society
We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you. It is with great pride that we announce His Majesty The King has retained the Patronage of The British Deer Society. This announcement follows a comprehensive review of the Patronages of The late Queen, The former Prince of Wales, and The former Duchess of Cornwall. Receiving this wonderful news marked the first anniversary of Their Majesties’ Coronation and is a momentous occasion for our society.
Our Royal Patronage began when The King, then the Prince of Wales, became our Patron on 1st May 1978. For nearly five decades, The King has shown unwavering support for our mission, reflecting his deep commitment to conservation and the important role that wild deer play in the lives of the Royal Family.
Chief Executive David McAuley expressed our collective delight, stating:
“We are delighted and honoured to announce His Majesty King Charles III has retained the Patronage of The British Deer Society. The continued support of His Majesty the King will make a huge difference to our organisation’s work, and we look forward to working closely with His Majesty as we move forward into an exciting time for the charity.”
The Society’s Chair of Trustees, Hugh van Cutsem, also extended heartfelt thanks:
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire membership of the British Deer Society, I wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to His Majesty the King for continuing with his Patronage of our Society. We are immensely proud of his 45-year Patronage of our award-winning charity and are delighted to see this continue.”
The continued support from His Majesty greatly benefits our charity, enhancing our ability to promote the welfare and conservation of deer across the UK. This prestigious patronage amplifies our efforts and helps us raise awareness about the vital work we undertake.
In accordance with the wishes of our esteemed Patron, we will continue to use any preprinted materials before they are updated to reflect this change. We believe in making the most of our resources and upholding the principles of sustainability.
We are deeply grateful for King Charles III’s enduring support and for the support of our members. This is truly an honour of which we can all be proud.
Together, we can make a significant difference for deer.
