Unlock Your Potential with the BDS Training and Mentor Scheme
If you’re passionate about deer stalking and ready to take your skills to the next level, the British Deer Society (BDS) is here to guide you. Our Training and Mentor Scheme offers a unique opportunity for BDS members holding a Deer Stalking Certificate 1 (DSC1) to gain essential hands-on experience in key aspects of deer management, from stalking to carcass processing.
Where the Learning Happens
Training takes place in two prime locations:
- Swinley Forest, a stunning 3,000-acre woodland area managed by the Crown Estate, Windsor.
- West Norfolk, a diverse 4,000-acre estate stretching from the coast through scrub, marshes, and farmlands.
Both locations provide the perfect environment to develop your practical skills in deer stalking, gralloching, transportation, and larder operations.
What You’ll Gain
For a fee of £300.00, you’ll receive two outings with a professional BDS training instructor. During these sessions, you’ll learn how to:
- Stalk and shoot deer under expert guidance.
- Handle a carcass, including gralloching and transportation.
- Prepare the carcass for the food chain by ensuring it’s fit for processing.
Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or a newcomer our instructors will support you every step of the way.
Why Choose BDS?
For decades, BDS has been the go-to source for deer-related training, but we recognise that gaining practical experience isn’t always easy, especially for newcomers. That’s why we’ve partnered with the Crown Estate and the West Norfolk Estate to provide one-on-one training in a real-world setting, ensuring you leave with the confidence and competence needed to excel in deer stalking.
