The training will prepare the candidate to undertake the DMQ DSC1 assessments at a chosen venue.
The online course is presented in small bite size presentations, along with short questions to test your level of knowledge, you will also be able to contact a tutor via email (normally within 1 working day), who will be able to help with any further questions you may have.
The DSC1 is the foundation of deer skills development.
To be awarded the Deer Stalking Certificate 1, you must demonstrate knowledge and skills in the following areas:
General Knowledge of the 6 species of deer found in Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Deer legislation
Ballistics
Deer identification
Safety
Shooting
Large Game – knowledge of the inspection of carcasses and the legal requirements
Rifles: A rifle legal for shooting deer in the UK is required for the shooting assessment. Any candidate who wishes to borrow a BDS Club rifle may legally borrow one free of charge under the BDS Gun Club rules. To be eligible to borrow a rifle you must be a member of the BDS and will be asked to complete a Section 21 Declaration Form unless a valid FAC is held.
FAC holders must have their certificates with them so they are able to sign the range register and therefore be able to comply with society rules and regulations.
