Family Membership – Direct Debit
Family Membership includes 2 adults (each with full voting rights) and up to 3 children including age 18 in full-time education and all family members must live at the same address.
One adult will be the primary contact who will receive all correspondence. The primary adult will need to provide their full name, address, date of birth and contact details on the application form. Remaining family members are required to provide their full name and date of birth.
BDS family members receive:
- Quarterly magazine, Deer, packed with articles and information from the experts.
- Optional membership of one or more local BDS branches offering talks, demonstrations, support, advice, and activity days.
- Chance to take part in surveys and research.
- Opportunity to take part in competitions, auctions and prize draws.
- Opportunity to join our member’s training and mentor scheme.
Direct Debit – Members paying by direct debit must allow 6 full working days for their payment to be collected before we can confirm and issue your membership pack and number.

Family Membership – Direct Debit
Family Membership includes 2 adults (each with full voting rights) and up to 3 children including age 18 in full-time education and all family members must live at the same address.
One adult will be the primary contact who will receive all correspondence. The primary adult will need to provide their full name, address, date of birth and contact details on the application form. The remaining family members are required to provide their full name and date of birth. Each family member gets their own individual membership card (optional) and membership number.
BDS family members receive:
- Quarterly magazine, Deer, packed with articles and information from the experts.
- Optional membership of one or more local BDS branches offering talks, demonstrations, support, advice, and activity days.
- Chance to take part in surveys and research.
- Opportunity to take part in competitions, auctions and prize draws.
- Opportunity to join our member’s training and mentor scheme.
The British Deer Society also produce a regular free email newsletter called ‘Deerbytes’ which members are encouraged to subscribe to. Members can also find regular news, events and updates on our website and social media channels.
By being a BDS member you are helping us educate and inspire everyone about deer through our training, education and research.
Please note: All membership applications are subject to approval by the Board of the British Deer Society. Once you finish your education you will then need to upgrade your membership the following year.
Direct Debit – Paying by direct debit saves you £6.00 on your annual subscription. Members paying by direct debit must allow 6 full working days for their payment to be collected before we can confirm and issue your membership pack and number.
- Annual Direct Debit renewals are taken on or shortly after the date the member initially joined.
- All memberships are for an annual 12-month period which can be paid once a year or in monthly instalments.
- Members who pay by monthly direct debit will receive an email each month prior to your Direct Debit being taken.
- The BDS will write to you before the end of your membership year and supply you with a new membership card for the following year.
- If you fail to pay the British Deer Society any instalment your British Deer Society membership will lapse. We will write to you and give you the opportunity to pay all instalments due for the remainder of your membership year by alternative means or to set up a new Direct Debit.
Gift Aid Declaration – Gift Aid raises more funds for the British Deer Society without any additional cost to you. If you are a UK taxpayer we can reclaim the tax on your membership subscriptions and donations. For every £1 you give we can claim a further 25p from the Inland Revenue. If you would like to help us please select ‘Yes’ on the form on the right. By confirming that you are a UK taxpayer you agree to BDS claiming tax on all donations you make from today and during the four years prior to this date. If your circumstances change and you no longer pay tax on your income please notify us to cancel this declaration.
